Lexington High School students have reached the dreaded second semester of the school year. The pressure to maintain grades and keep up with classwork is at an all-time high. Due to this, many, including me, have not been able to enjoy weekends properly. I’ve been going to the library after school more often than not and my to-do list is longer than ever. However, instead of the library, I suggest somewhere more refreshing: Boston’s Fenway Park!
Fenway has plenty of cafes to do work, including Tatte and Cafe Nero. The comforting coffee shop ambience has been appealing to me when I know I need to be productive. Once you get sick of doing homework, it’ll be easy to find something new to do, an aspect our town desperately lacks. The cafes offer casual eats in case you get hungry. But if you’re craving something more filling, there are a lot of other places you can get food.
Regina’s Pizzeria is a short walk away, and if you come at the right time, they might give you a free slice right before they close, which was a nice surprise after a long day of walking around. A Target and Sephora are in Fenway as well, which serve as a great place for a well-deserved shopping spree after completing assignments.
Fenway is more of an outdoor shopping center, which means items may be on the more-expensive side. The costs of some items may not seem like a lot, but they add up quickly. My bank account was pretty upset with me after shopping there.
This trip is temperature-dependent, as you’ll be walking outdoors from store to store. Additionally, like many places in Boston, it’s time-consuming to get there. Starting from Alewife station, switching to the green line at Park Street, and then taking the T to Fenway takes about 50 minutes and $4.80 for tickets there and back.
If your teachers have assigned more homework than usual, then this trip may not be for you, as Fenway is too far away for this to be worth your time. Although, if you do end up going, you’ll wish that our town center was as fun as Fenway.
