“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”
- Vince lombardi
Sometimes the truth feels so far from reality. In our heads we know that self-care is important, and that balance is what we should strive for, but it usually ends up being deferred. Or, perhaps you have the opposite problem. You know that you should study, but you just can’t bring yourself to open the book. Either way, we know what we should do, but what we know and what we do become two separate things. This is relevant anytime, but especially in the spring. With final exams just around the corner, everything seems overwhelming and terrifying. Many are studying in hopes of receiving good scores, while others are struggling to begin. So many of us are so caught up in this process that I’ll just cut to the chase.
Remember to pace yourself. Remember that you matter. Remember that you are trying. And remember that it’s not the end of the world. Push yourself to be the best you can, but don’t shove yourself to the border of your sanity. It’s a delicate balance full of contradictions, but it’s a battle you must engage in nevertheless. It’s a struggle that we must learn to cope with as we continue in our lives disregarding whether we are or aren’t in high school. Put in your best so that you can leave with no regrets, but also give yourself room to breathe when you find the walls closing in on you. There is a time for everything, and when you engage in one task commit yourself to it entirely to fulfill yourself the best you can. Let’s work hard, and let’s give all that we do the best we have got.
Good luck to you all!
