On Nov. 22, the Class Council of 2025, in collaboration with Hype Squad, hosted a pep rally for the senior class during I Block at Lexington High School.
The pep rally, an event celebrating LHS’s seniors, provided a chance to unwind amidst the stress of senior exams and college applications.
Planning for the Senior Pep Rally began at the end of June, where the first preliminary ideas were shared between the council.
“The Cabinet met with Mr. Baker, Mr. Melia, and the Hype Squad. We all came up with a plan of what we wanted it to look like,” Kimaya Bhangle, the Class of 2025 Vice President, said.
The event was hosted during a day three I block in the field house. Although the event was not mandatory, all seniors were moved into the I block. Because of the large number of students, the Class Council decided to host the event in the field house.
“We fit everybody on the bleachers, and a few people were sitting on the track,” Bhangle said.
As for the pep rally itself, there were a wide variety of activities for the students to enjoy and participate in.
“We had the band play at the beginning. Then we had relay races, musical chairs, a trivia game, and the cheerleaders did a performance as well. Having the cheerleaders perform was definitely something we wanted to include because that’s more of a traditional activity that other schools normally do,” Bhangle said.
However, Class Council had some concerns with which activities to include during the short 50-minute I block.
“There were definitely a couple of games we wanted to do like a balloon-popping game, but it would’ve been too loud,” Bhangle said.
Fortunately, there were no major issues during the pep rally itself, and no backup plans had to be used.
“We also thought about doing tug-of-war, but those were just extra activities we planned in case we had extra time. We didn’t have time for them, but it ended up being fine because they weren’t part of the main itinerary. Everything worked out perfectly,” Bhangle said.
Overall, students felt that the pep rally was successful in providing a well-deserved break for all of the seniors to enjoy their last year as high schoolers and potentially get to know each other better in a non-academic space.
“It was a really fun experience. It’s our senior year, and we’ve worked so hard to get to this point. This was just a nice way for us to celebrate that hard work and have fun with other people in our grade,” Bhangle said.
